U15 IPSWICH 0 - SOUTHWOLD 17 March 9 2008

A case of after the Lord Mayor's show? Ipswich U.15 did not perform at their best today, and were beaten too easily by visitors Southwold, whose try line was was rarely threatened. Ipswich missed a penalty in the first half, but that was their only real points chance, with Southwold's full back having a good game swallowing up high balls, and tackling any breaking Ipswich runners.

The Ipswich coaches took the opportunity to give everyone in the squad some time in the game, and the revolving substitutions undoubtedly caused a loss of momentum at times. The ball was not in Ipswich possession for long enough periods for the backs to try out any moves, and the defence was not good enough to deal with the more determined running and support that Southwold demonstrated, particularly in the second half.

Next Sunday sees an away game to Harwich, a fixture that we have not played in the last 7 years, so it will be interesting to see how the squad performs against unknown opposition, in our last away game before the West Country Tour. (An Easter Sunday game is arranged for a Touring side from Kettering at Humber Doucy Lane)

Out of 18 matches played this season the scoreline now reads.

Won 9 Lost 9. Points For 256 Points Against 296.
